Mrs. Gloria McField-Nixon
Mrs. Gloria McField-Nixon is the Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service (PoCS) where she provides leadership on human resources policy, public sector reform and corporate governance. Her public service career spans more than 25 years, beginning in 1997 in the Marketing and Promotions Unit within the then Portfolio of Finance and Economics.
In 2001, Mrs. McField-Nixon joined to the Ministry of Tourism, Environment, Development and Commerce in the role of Senior Assistant Secretary rising through the ranks to Deputy Chief Officer and ultimately to Chief Officer in 2007.
Mrs. McField-Nixon transferred to her current role as Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service in 2009. Her portfolio includes the Corporate and Strategic HR Unit, Civil Service College, Management and Support Unit, Internal Audit, the Passport Office and the National Archives. She also provides administrative oversight of the Governor’s Office, Deputy Governor’s Office, Elections Office, and the Commissions Secretariat. Along with her team, Mrs. McField-Nixon is delivering CIG’s corporate strategy to build a World-Class Civil Service.
Mrs. McField-Nixon chairs the subcommittee for CIG’s business continuity and in 2020, Mrs. McField-Nixon was awarded the Certificate and Badge of Honour for her leadership during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the PoCS received the UK-based, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD’s) highest award – People Team of the Year (Public Sector).
Mrs. McField-Nixon is an attorney-at-law (non-practicing) and holds a Bachelors degree in Communications from Howard University in Washington DC and a Bachelor of Laws degree (Honours) from the University of Liverpool.
During her career, Mrs. McField-Nixon has served on the boards of 7 large statutory authorities and Government-owned companies, including the Public Service Pensions Board where she continues to serve as an Ex-Officio Director.
